Freeze the field map
List the Shopify source field, WooCommerce destination field, transformation rule and owner. Include handles, titles, descriptions, vendors, product types, tags, options, SKUs, prices, weights, barcodes, media and SEO fields.

Choose how each collection behaves
Shopify automated collections may depend on rules that do not have a direct WooCommerce equivalent. Decide whether each collection becomes a category, tag, saved merchandising rule or manually managed group.

Import a representative sample
Test simple, variable, out-of-stock, draft, unusually large and media-heavy products first. A sample that only contains easy products will hide the failures most likely to appear in the full catalog.

Reconcile before design QA
Compare source and destination counts, then inspect values. Matching totals do not prove that attributes, option order, prices, stock, images or tax settings landed correctly.

Run the final delta
If Shopify remains live during the build, document products, prices and inventory changed after the first export. Re-import or manually reconcile that delta immediately before cutover.

Yes, CSV files can support a product migration, especially for straightforward catalogs. The Shopify and WooCommerce field models are not identical, so variants, collections, media, metafields and inventory still require mapping and verification rather than a blind upload.
02Do Shopify variants become WooCommerce variations?+
They can, provided Shopify options are mapped to WooCommerce attributes and each valid combination becomes a variation. Test SKU, price, stock, image, weight and status for both common and edge-case products.
03Will product images and alt text move automatically?+
That depends on the migration method. Confirm that original files remain accessible, every expected image is downloaded, variant-image relationships survive and available alt text is preserved or rewritten deliberately.
